Dr. Fontenelle-Gilmer has an impressive academic and professional background. She received her educational training from Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins University, Sheppard Pratt Hospital, and the University of Maryland. She is board certified in General Psychiatry, and the sub specialty of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
For the past 15 years Dr. Fontenelle-Gilmer has practiced in a variety of both outpatient and inpatient settings. Her interest in a holistic approach is reflected in her previous experience. Currently, Dr. Fontenelle-Gilmer is serving as the Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at UNLV for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program. Recently she served as an Assistant Director of Residency Training for a family medicine program in Michigan, where she taught residents and provided hospital-based psychiatric consultation services to primary care doctors. Previous to this position, she served as a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist for Monroe County Mental Health, and provided consulting services through MCMHA Integrated Health Initiative with the Family Medical Center.
While Dr. Fontenelle-Gilmer has experience in treating a multitude of psychiatric disorders, she has a particular interest in helping children with developmental disabilities, ADHD, and those who have experienced various forms of trauma. Dr. Fontenelle-Gilmer has a conservative approach to medication management. She recognizes that each child and each family is unique, so treatment while being evidence based, needs to be individually tailored in order to achieve emotional and behavioral success.
Dr. Fontenelle-Gilmer lives with her husband and their two active boys. She loves spending time with her family, photography, community service, and is an avid sports fan.
